Spayed: a non event
Having anticipated the need to nurse kittens after they were spayed, it was all a non event – for owners, anyway. The kittens didn’t ‘worry’ their incision sites; didn’t become infected; didn’t lose their appetites. All in all, no problem.
Jazzy is top dog
Jazzy and Tansy have had their post op check – and both are doing fine. They were unusually quiet (peace!) for a couple of days, but now seem to be getting back to their normal aggravating selves.

Spayed!
Yesterday, Jazzy and Tansy were spayed. The vet advised us to keep an eye on their incision sites; checking for swelling, bleeding, infection, and also to prevent wound licking. Today, unless viewed from underneath, there’s no indication of their ever being operated upon.
As advised, they had a ‘light’ supper yesterday, steamed fish and rice which they enjoyed so much that I fear they’ll refuse anything less in future!
Jazzy’s howling has (fingers crossed) stopped . . .
Jazzy hasn’t been howling for two days now. Seems it’s related to being on heat, so will cease when they are spayed – vet appointment is a couple of weeks from now.
Tansy is cured . . .
Today, the vet considers Tansy cured after several days treatment for conjunctivitis. I’m really pleased about this, especially as I worry that gripping young Tansy, so that Linda can put the ointment on her eyes, will lead to an unsatisfactory bonding.
Conjunctivitis!
Tansy has conjunctivitis and the vet has prescribed anti-bacterial ointment (fusidic acid). Tansy not amused when it’s applied.
Just been micro-chipped . . .
Both kittens ‘registered’ with vet today. Micro-chipped for security. Tansy putting on more weight than Jazzy, but vet reckons weight gain OK for both.
They’ve mastered cat flap between kitchen and utility area – so litter tray now out of kitchen!
Currently using ‘wood pellet’ litter, but plan to try ‘clumping’ type as it might be more satisfactory for removing when fouled.
